Centre For Agriculture, Research & Entrepreneurship
The Centre for Agriculture, Research and Entrepreneurship (CARE) is a nonprofit entity that was formed to ensure social sustainability of Farmcity’s overarching mission: to use agriculture to nourish brains and bellies in order to increase access to nutritious vegetables for everybody.
The mission of CARE is to use organic agriculture as a tool to:
teach entrepreneurship to youths from low socioeconomic status (SES) and underserved communities, and improving food security,
teach members of the community about agro-ecological ways of growing their own food,
to improve research about the local food system,
to do all such things that are conducive to the attainment of the above objects.
CARE currently leases 1000 square meters of agricultural land at Fair Fund Pamplemousses, where most of the research and workshops for children and junior youths will be conducted.
